I met a man called Daniel at bird ringing, first light. He asked me “how’s it go” so I told him of my plight. Natures Valley is beautiful but there is not a pub in sight, nor bus nor taxi there be. The nearest town is 30 km, while my legs are strong I cannot all the sights of this beautiful place go see.

Daniel said to me you need a man called Mac. Mac is from these parts and well respected is he. He is the man who knows how to help thee. “Where will I find the man called Mac” I declare. “All the way down at the Rocky Road” says he.

Low and behold the man they call Mac appears at my side on Wednesday morn so I told him of my plight. Natures Valley is beautiful but there is not a pub in sight, nor bus nor taxi there be. The nearest town is 30 km while my legs are strong I cannot all the sights of this beautiful place go see.

Mac umms and aahs, I think I know a man that can help thee. His name is Gavin and in Plettenburg Bay he there be. “How can Gavin help me” I declare. “He be man with local cars” says he.

I found the man called Gavin at Engen Plettenburg Bay so I told him of my plight. Natures Valley is beautiful but there is not a pub in sight, nor bus nor taxi there be. The nearest town is 30 km while my legs are strong I cannot all the sights of this beautiful place go see.

Gavin looks at me and say “I got the one for you” and so he gives me my own little piece of independence and hand me the keys to the Toyota Tazz. No power steering or central locking but isn’t she a beaut?

Isn't she a beaut?
Isn’t she a beaut?

So looking forward to exploring Plettenburg and the surrounding area over the next few weekends. Struck a great deal with Gavin for weekends only usage on the car.

This week has been really busy, after the national holiday on Monday for Women’s Day…don’t recall that we celebrate this in the UK, so I think we should campaign to have it introduced. We got stuck into hosting a world environment day for one of the local schools, 204 kids passed through. I was the chief photographer and whip cracker for time keeping (no change there then). Was a great week, here is a link to the blog I wrote for Natures Valley Trust to cover the event.

Nature’s Valley Trust – World Environment Week

So now I am off with Yanga for a celebration braai with the man they call Mac and the 3 uni students from Bellingham who had their last day at NVT and are heading off to Capetown before hitting Seattle airport.
